How Does A Beginner Begin?
When Maneland was incorporated in 2010, it wasn’t just about creating a company—it was about transformation. At the time, I already had the experience and training as a professional, but I was still learning how to translate that credibility “on paper” the way I carried it in real life. Touring gave me the perfect opportunity to dive deeper: I began navigating royalties and publishing, quickly realizing the necessity of becoming a publishing company rather than remaining solely an artist.
That shift—from simply understanding royalties to mastering the business of publishing—opened my eyes. It was no longer just about creating music; it was about learning how to run a business, how to sustain a career, and how to access opportunities many artists didn’t even know existed. Along the way, I discovered that behind every system—whether BMI, aggregators, or distribution platforms—were people willing to guide you if you only reached out. That realization became central to Maneland’s philosophy: access and empowerment.
As technology evolved, so did we. Where once you had to approach iTunes, Amazon, and other platforms individually, now aggregators like DistroKid, United Masters, and CD Baby gave artists broader reach. Understanding those tools, and how to use them strategically, became a new frontier—and we leaned into it. We knew that most artists don’t always have the time, capacity, or knowledge to keep pace with these shifts, but that’s exactly where Maneland steps in.
From the beginning, our mission has been empowerment. What started as a personal journey of figuring it out evolved into a larger commitment: helping artists at every stage of their path not only see the next level but reach it. Maneland is built on the belief that knowledge should be shared, access should be expanded, and every creative deserves the tools to grow their artistry into lasting legacy.
That’s why Maneland began—and that’s why we continue. We help beginners begin.
